Jo Vermeulen is a PhD student and teaching assistant at Hasselt University in Belgium, where he works in the Expertise Centre for Digital Media (EDM) research institute. His research interests lie at the intersection of human-computer interaction and ubiquitous computing. He aims to make smart spaces usable, predictable and safe for users by investigating techniques that help users understand what is happening within these environments and that allow them to intervene if necessary.
